My first real costuming was for Renaissance faire from about 1991-1994. I did a lot of research into the period (though more about people and politics than clothing construction) and tried my best to emulate the silhouette and style of the era. I think my creations worked well for the events I participated in, and that was certainly as good as I could do at the time, given my skills and budget. I've been revisiting this era, especially since I joined the Society for Creative Anachronism in 2007.
