As advertised by Loren, this costume was both fabulous *and* comfortable to wear! My version was much more voluminous than the other ladies, but I planned it that way. I wanted to float around on a big cloud of silk. And I did. Good news is that this will become a Costume College tradition, so I’ll have time for more accessories.

You looked super hot in this — great color, and I lurve the wig!
You must join us next year!
Fabulous! Well, duh, it’s you. Why is it bitchy?
Bitchy bec. it’s me? Hee. Well, I think it got the “bitchy” moniker bec. in the TV shows “Rome” & “Spartacus” all the female characters who wear outfits like this are bitches. I still haven’t watched the shows, but Lucy Lawless is in one of them, so I really should.
Is this a pattern?? I want one of these for weekends!
No patterns, just draped – in fact, all of us who made these did different styles, just draping & pinning fabric around till it looked good. It’s a very forgiving style.
I recommend finding some fabric with good drape (soft silk, georgette, a sari, etc), get a ton of pins, & play with it on a dress form. You can do a toga or, like I did, a glorified bathrobe. My undergown is a cotton shift — two panels with a scoop neckline. And the pink silk is four panels with pleats at the waist & some bunching at the shoulders. It’s really a bathrobe / kimono shape, & I just pinned it up on the dress form till I liked it, then sewed the pinned parts down, sewed the panel seams, & hemmed it.
Everything else is accessorizing!
