The first month of Accessorizing Head to Toe has kicked off with some lovely results from you creative costumers! Here’s what I’ve found on your blogs & the Flickr pool so far — feel free to add more in the comments below.
Loren of The Costumer’s Closet made several gorgeous Day of the Dead inspired floral headpieces. She says they’re easy to make, & the effect is stunning. This is going on my to-do list for sure.
Lady Constance of Threading Through Time killed two birds with one stone (& put some of those birds on her hat!) by re-trimming an old hat into a fantastic 1908 Edwardian hat & satisfying both this accessory challenge & The Dreamstress’ Re-make, Re-use, & Re-fashion challenge.
On Flickr, 18thc.lady has her own accessory challenge — she’s creating all the pieces that are shown in Thomas Gainsborough’s portrait of Countess Mary Howe. For this month, she has a pretty little straw hat trimmed with ribbon & a cameo.
I also noticed that several people have hats planned for September, which is awesome! Please do keep posting on your blogs & comment here. I’ll check back every couple of months with accessory-wide wrap-ups as well.
