I’d already worn my velvet teagown for two different Mucha-themed events when a group of friends suggested a Mucha meetup at Costume College 2023. As much as I love that teagown, I really did not want to wear it again this year and especially not in L.A. in late July! So I went about assembling a more summer-weight Mucha costume, though still, as always, in my gothy fashion.
It began with this “greek goddess” type dress I bought from The Linen Atelier on Etsy. Mine is in black cotton and custom-fit to my size. Highly recommended, btw. Then I added the ombre tulle robe from my Queen of Swords costume, and I knew I’d wear that same curly purple wig since it’s my favorite.
The only new thing I made was a flower crown from the largest purple and black faux flowers I could find, including several lilac types that would drape down over the sides.
Group costume meet-ups can be such fun!
